Flexible packaging covers far more than one type of bag. A factory may pack snacks into pillow bags, coffee into zipper pouches, seasoning into sachets, drink powder into stick packs or biscuits into flow-wrapped packs. Each format needs its own feeding, dosing and sealing method.

Vicanpack builds the packing line around the finished package you plan to sell. The system can start with raw product feeding and continue through weighing, filling, bag packing, pack counting, carton loading, case sealing and pallet stacking.

You can choose a primary packing section only, or connect it with downstream equipment when the packed products need retail cartons or shipping cases.

Start With the Package Format

Choosing the main package format comes before choosing the machine. Roll film bags, premade pouches, sachets and stick packs may look similar on the shelf, but the machines handle them in different ways.

Roll Film Bags

A vertical form fill seal machine pulls film from a roll, forms the bag, fills the product and seals the finished pack. This setup commonly handles:

  • Rice, beans, seeds and grains
  • Chips, nuts, candy and dried fruit
  • Milk powder, spice and flour
  • Frozen food and pet food
  • Detergent powder and fertilizer

Sachets

A sachet packing system produces small flat packs for single-use or measured portions. Common products include coffee powder, seasoning, sugar, salt, sauce, shampoo, cream and pharmaceutical powders.

The machine can make three-side seal, four-side seal or back-seal sachets. The filling unit changes according to whether the product flows like powder, granules or liquid.

Stick Packs

Stick packs use a narrow shape and usually hold a small product dose. Instant coffee, drink mix, sugar, supplement powder, honey, sauce and liquid products often use this format.

A multilane stick packing machine splits one film roll into several lanes. Each lane forms, fills and seals packs during the same production cycle.

Flow-Wrapped Packs

A flow wrapper moves solid products horizontally through film forming and sealing. It suits biscuits, bread, chocolate bars, soap, masks, hardware and other individual or grouped items.

Match the Filling Unit to the Product

Multihead weighers handle snacks, nuts, candy, frozen food and other free-flowing products. Linear weighers or volumetric cups can handle rice, beans, sugar, salt and similar granules.

Some factories want one complete connected line. Others prefer separate machine sections because they run several products or carton formats.

A connected line reduces repeated manual transfer, but it also requires closer speed matching between machines. When the upstream machine stops, the downstream section needs enough accumulation space to avoid an immediate full-line shutdown.

Separate sections give operators more flexibility when product sizes change often. They may suit factories that use one cartoning machine for packs from several different packing machines.

Product and Bag Changeovers

One machine can often handle several pack sizes within a defined range, but it cannot change freely between every bag format.

A VFFS machine can change bag length through the control panel, while bag-width changes usually require another forming collar. A premade pouch machine may need guide adjustments or replacement grippers. A multilane machine normally keeps the same lane structure even when pack length changes.

Switching from a pillow bag to a zipper pouch requires a different machine type, not a simple setting change.

Machine selection answers only part of the project. Conveyor direction, operator access, cleaning space, electrical cabinet position and material feeding height also affect daily production.

The complete system can cover these product types, but each product needs a suitable filling unit. A single machine does not automatically handle every material without changing or replacing the dosing section.

Can the line make both sachets and stick packs?

Sachets and stick packs use different bag proportions and sealing arrangements. Some multilane platforms support different configurations, but changing between the two may require major parts rather than a quick adjustment.

Can Vicanpack add cartoning later?

Yes. The original packing line can reserve conveyor height, discharge direction and control connections for a future cartoning system.

Does every pouch line need a case packing system?

No. Small factories may collect finished pouches manually. A case packing system becomes more relevant when the factory needs fixed case counts, higher output or fewer manual loading steps.

Can the system connect several packing machines to one cartoner?

It can, but the design needs product merging, buffering and counting controls. The cartoner must also match the combined output from the upstream machines.
